Meaning and History of Nautical Star Tattoos
Nautical star tattoos have been around for centuries originating with sailors. It is usually rendered as a five-pointed star in alternating dark and light shades. The pattern is similar to a compass rose. It’s a favorite tattoo design for many and is often combined with other images. Nautical stars were a prominent choice in the work of the Sailor Jerry era of tattoos.
When nautical stars are chosen for someone’s tattoo design, it is most likely they just think the nautical star tattoo is attractive. But some may know of a deeper meaning behind the nautical star. If it is tattooed on the left wrist and aligned with the thumb, it is said to represent a
