The European dragon variety typically is a fire-breathing, four legged wing creature that caused fear in the villagers and was known for killing the locals. They typically lived in underground caves where they fiercely guarded their treasure. The European dragon has been legend since classical Greed and Roman times.

Dragons represent strength, power, sometimes danger, fearlessness and have the ability to fly. In folklore and stories, dragons are usually clever and smart. All of these attributes make them attractive to people.

Dragons are often guarding a cave full of treasure. Chests of gold and booty, jewels, money and at times, a fair maiden from the local village.

The stories and legends of the dragon add to the appeal of the visual attraction.
